The goals of the St. Nicholas Montessori Centre are to make available from our ongoing and developing knowledge base, the appropriate educational programs, teaching methods, and pedagogy to help develop our nation’s human resources beginning at the most fundamental level, our children.

Only through proper fundamentals can children be equipped to have the self-confidence, motivation, and determination to continue to drive Malaysia towards long-term national goals. As society, education, and technology continue to change, children must be equipped to respond, adapt, and lead change as they mature.

Guiding Principals of St Nicholas Montessori Centre

The guiding principles of St. Nicholas Montessori Centre are based on the combination of the learning components, and learning outcomes of the following complementary Early Childhood Education philosophies:

  • Montessori-Methods:
    Dr Montessori's fundamental concept is that the learning environment should be designed to facilitate maximum independent learning and exploration by the child.




  • Developmentally Appropriate Practices:
    Contemporary educational principals rooted in classic Montessori fundamentals: the frameworks of normal child development are based on individual strengths and deficits reflective of each child's overall learning and needs, not just on narrowly defined basic skills


  • Malaysia National Preschool curriculum:
    The Malaysia National Preschool Curriculum is based on 4 principles:

    1. Overall & Integrated Self-Development:
      Focus on the development of individual's potential. Child's potential must be developed in an integrated manner, as each development aspect is influential to each other.

    2. Cheerful Learning:
      Stresses the interest and motivation to learn, instilled through interesting, comfortable, challenging and happy learning environment A conducive learning environment fosters a spirit of loving knowledge, and later develops the child to be interested in learning with an open mind.
